ATCO Transport seeks a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team. Specializing in Fleet Maintenance and Repair, our garage mostly serves fleet operations, promoting a thorough understanding of the equipment you’ll work on. We work in a 10-bay shop.
Pay: $16-$20/hour based on experience, with easy growth based on ability
Schedule:
- Part-Time – Hourly Pay
- Monday – Friday
- 4:00 – 8:30 PM – will have variation, no more than 20 hours per week
Modern trucks often arrive with various warning indicators illuminated (Engine, ABS, transmission, etc.), demanding clear identification of the underlying system fault before troubleshooting. We prioritize candidates proficient in computer diagnostics and electrical repair to effectively address the evolving needs of contemporary fleets.
Part-Time Position – the tasks below are some examples of various job activities:
- Diagnose warning lamps (Engine, ABS, transmission, or a light the customer doesn’t recognize)
- Identifying the truck system giving the error and troubleshooting it from there
- Computer diagnostics and electrical repair
- Federal Inspections
- Brake Jobs
- Suspension Work
- Hub and Axle Repair
- Tire Repair
- Regular Service and Maintenance
Qualifications:
- Required:Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of verifiable mechanic experience in a shop environment (automotive, heavy duty, or other form of transportation repair shop)
- Basic Tools: Possession of a basic set of hand tools. Specialty tools may be provided by the company as needed
- Valid Driver’s License: A valid state-issued driver’s license
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift at least 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks typical of diesel mechanic work
- Preferred: Two (2) total years of verified Diesel Mechanic experience in a shop environment
- Experience with specific engine types (e.g., Cummins, Detroit Diesel) or systems (e.g., hydraulic, electrical) is preferred and may be given priority
- Certification or degree in diesel repair
- Experience with diagnostic tools such as Cummins Insite, Quickserve, Paccar’s Davie4, and Mack’s PTT
- ASE Certifications: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications are preferred, especially in areas relevant to the position, such as Diesel Engines, Brakes, and Drivetrain
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License – Class A or B) is not required, but may be considered a plus for road testing or moving vehicles within company or customer property
